Workplace violence is unfortunate and sad reality of the world we live in. Felonious Assault benefits offer an added benefit if a workplace loss is due to a violent crime.
Felonious Assault Benefit
We will pay a flat benefit shown in the Schedule of Benefits, when an Insured suffers a Covered Loss from a Covered Accident that occurs during a violent crime or felonious assault as described below. A police report detailing the felonious assault or violent crime must be provided before this benefit is payable. The Covered Accident must occur while an Insured is on the business or premises of the Policyholder. An Insured must notify the police within 24 hours of the assault.
To qualify for benefit payment, the Covered Accident must occur during any of the following:
- actual or attempted robbery or holdup;
- actual or attempted kidnapping;
- any other type of intentional assault that is a crime classified as a felony by the governing statute or common law in the location where the assault occurred.
